I'm ~25 years old. I spend way too much time online and looking at screens. I used to work as a software engineer before I started my Masters degree.
I've always hated html/css and frontend stuff in general. To not hate these things anymore, I decided to start my neocities website.
Honestly, looking at other sites and seeing how cool they are, is a little overwhelming. I hope that over time, I become a powerful webmaster.
I love this (neocities) form of expressing your "self" online. While I am helplessly addicted to Instagram, I've never actually posted anything on my profile. I do not know why.
For whatever reason, most things on instagram come off as a little fake and performative to me. Or maybe its just in my head.
I love expanding my horizons when it comes to art forms like movies, music and prose.
I'd say that the prose part is a little weak as I've only ever read a handful of books in my life.
However when it comes to movies and music, I just cannot stop. I'm always on the lookout for something exciting and titillating to consume.
I plan to write something about movies and music at some point. I'll link to it when I do.
The concept of enlightenment interests me a lot. This theme can be found in the monastic traditions of all the major religions of the world.
While I am an anti-theist, these strands of thought are alluring to me. Some mentions for people who want to explore are the Gnostics in Christianity;
the many philosophers from what was called Al-Andalus i.e present day Andalusia in Spain, examples : Ibn Al-Arabi, Suhrawardī etc; Advaita Vedanta in Hinduism
| keywords : Adi Shankara, Ashtavakra etc and Buddhist philosophy as a whole.
The reason I find this interesting is the promise of the end of all sufferning, right here right now without going into things like heaven, hell and so on.
Why I am not a materialist is due to the hard problem of consciousness. I believe consciousness is something very curious and worth exploring.
Other interests and current activities include : learning German, playing guitar, listening to music the whole fucking day trying to drown any existential ennui that may take form.
Current goal is to be able to play Avril 14th on my acoustic guitar but it is surprisingly non-trivial to learn.
All time favorite movie : The Big Lebowski. I can watch this movie whenever wherever. Always calms me down and reminds me to "Take it easy, Dude".
Also I need to really find a way to make this website more appealing because all these walls of text are putting me off.
